Twisted Candied Bacon
Twisted Bacon is the new internet viral dish! Perfect for a snack, dresses up a salad or a sandwich! I love the candied bacon strips for salads, sandwiches, or just a fun snack for the whole family, friends, or coworkers.
Easy to make and fun to eat.
You will want to make sure and use the thick cut bacon for better texture. Add the brown sugar about five minutes before you remove from oven for a delicious sweetness to your bacon. The more expensive thick bacon is my preference for flavor. The Wright bacon was a big hit at the office.
Make sure and line a large cookie sheet with aluminum foil at the bottom. Remove bacon from the package and twist down from the top. Lay on the cookie sheet and bake at 400. The oven at the office takes about 40 minutes for crispy bacon. However, oven temps vary, so be sure and watch your first batch closely for desired crispness.
You can make these ahead! To reheat just add to a skillet and simmer on low until warmed. You can add additional brown sugar if desired.
This bacon is delicious to make for the ULTIMATE BLT SANDWICH
ENJOY!
Ingredients
Directions
· Heat your oven to 400 degrees.
· Line a large baking sheet with foil. Seal it over the edges. We choose foil over parchment for this recipe because you want to keep the bacon grease from leaking underneath for easy clean up.
· Holding one end of the bacon strip simply twist it around your finger and boom!
· Place on lined baking sheet and into the oven it goes!
· Bake for 40-45 minutes. It takes a bit of time to really crisp these up!
· For candied bacon – add brown sugar five minutes before done (Just pull out tray from oven and sprinkle brown sugar over tops of each)
· Remove the bacon to paper towels to drain.
· Let the grease solidify then wrap up the foil and toss!
