![]() When you enter the Blogging World, you spend a huge amount of time engaging in various groups to find support, receive encouragement, learn from each other, and make new friends. I stumbled across this fine lady in one of the Pinterest groups. Sheryl’s niche was similar to mine so I decided to reach out to her to swap tips, etc. As we began communicating, I learned more about her personally and what inspired her to start blogging. Like me, she is blonde, southern and enjoys cooking and gifting others. MEET SHERYL ANDERSON – A SMIDGE OF SOUTH Sheryl has been married for 30 years and lives in the good ‘ole Southern State of Kentucky. The couple has two daughters 25 and 29. They are blessed with three grandchildren, two boys and one girl. Sheryl spent her early years of marriage being devoted to raising their children and being a part of their school activities. At age 39, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. “My kids use to tease me they would graduate from college before I did.” She went on to get a Master's in Elementary Education Teacher Leader with a Math Specialist endorsement. This past year she completed her principal certification. Today, Sheryl is a teacher at a local elementary school where she works with at-risk students who struggle with reading in kindergarten through third grade. Sheryl’s husband works for a local factory that stamps out metal parts for vehicles as a control technician. Their oldest daughter is working at a nursing home as a med-tech and is working towards a degree in nursing. The youngest is trying to finish up her degree in interdisciplinary studies. They have three grandchildren, two boys and a girl. “I know I am biased, but they are the cutest things I've ever seen.” The boys love to shoot their Nerf guns at each other and have sword fights. Her granddaughter is all girl. She loves dresses, shoes, jewelry, and all things princess. “I'm pretty sure she thinks she's a princess and that's just fine with me.” Sheryl loves to cook and enjoys cooking for others. She loves to take recipes and make them her own. “I remember standing up in a chair and cooking with my grandmother. I also was the oldest child, so I had to help my mom with cooking when I was young.” Her favorite cookbook is a red and white checkered Better Homes and Garden cookbook from the early 1960's. It was her mother-in-law's and she gave it to her many years ago. Although in bad shape, she loves the history of it. Sheryl treasures the cookbook and likes to modernize the recipes. Sheryl wanted to create a cookbook for her daughters. She researched blogs and the next thing she knew she started one of her own –A SMIDGE OF SOUTH. The more she blogged, the more she wanted to keep blogging and publishing one of her own. “It is probably one of the most enjoyable hobbies I have ever had.” Sheryl’s desire is to monetize the blog so she can use it to pay off student loans. Like many of us, it is her hope that she and her husband can retire debt-free. Sheryl and her husband recently purchased a boat. That is the couple’s new hobby together. They enjoy taking the family out on the boat and spending time with them. I know you will enjoy reading her blog as much as I do. Stay tuned and keep on following us. Xoxo - Pat
