![]() Last night Greg and I went to a local coffee shop downtown Little Rock for the first time. Nexus Coffee Shop is in the heart of Downtown Little Rock located on President Clinton Avenue. First of all, I had no idea that Little Rock's Night Life would be so fun for his two older folks! I loved this place. We went there to see my son David, Adam, Julia, Austin & Alex P on his debut singing live. I took my new video camera and learned an important thing regarding taking a higher digital video camera to a coffee shop....don't! Unless you go way to the very back, stand leave it on a tripod with a remote, don't bother. I was sitting right in front of where they blended the drinks and the bar area. All the great song recordings were muffled by blender, coughs of people, etc. etc. My I-Phone that I grabbed at the end did much better for this type of place. I will use this new HD video recorder in a studio environment or a much larger room. Lesson learned! I am glad that I took the I-phone and got Alex P's last song so I could have it and pass it down to his mom. I also am soooo very glad that I had it out when a young lady asked could she go up on stage and do an "Open Mic." I decided to record it on the I-phone just to have. Becca was in town (as she announced) doing a self-produced Documentary on the life of Secretary Hilary Clinton. Becca (just 21) along with her friend, were traveling from Washington, New York and Little Rock to film this Documentary that she is naming "To All The Little Girls" about Hilary. She said she had met Hilary on several occasions and Hilary was so encouraging to her. She said herself, "Whether you agree with her Politics," Hilary has achieved so much in her lifetime as a Woman, a Wife, A Mother and her Friend. I am so glad that I took the time to go over and speak to Becca about her ambitions and desires to create this Documentary. Becca knew what she wanted to accomplished, is achieving her dreams, and making this happen! Oh to be young again and knowing what you wanted at that age and going for it! Becca's song was "This Is My Fight Song" she said it was her dedication to Hilary Clinton and all The Little Girls out there that had big dreams and ambitions! You can follow Becca on Twitter and her progress.

Disney's lion king -the musical![]() The Lion King has to be my favorite Disney Movie of all time. I first saw The Lion King when Lauren was little, (now 27) I think I enjoyed it as much or more than she did. The computer graphics were amazing in the movie as well as in the computer game. Who doesn't love a good Disney Movie? Greg and I were sitting around yesterday and we normally go to the movies, (we do love the movies) decided we needed to special treat ourselves. I got on-line and found tickets on Stub Hub. BTW, they had the cheapest fees per ticket that were on sale. I checked the other tickets from other vendors and by just doing a little research saved us over $50 a ticket. This is the first time that we have been to The Robinson Center (officially known as The Joseph Taylor Robinson Memorial Auditorium) since it had been completed rebuilt in 2017. Honestly, you can't have a bad seat in this beautiful performance hall. The only tickets that were available for the 7:30 showing were in Section I, which was at the top. I didn't mind that at all... getting me that much closer to the bathroom at intermission. This performance as amazing! The puppetry was outstanding and from where we were sitting, looked real. This production did win six Tony Awards®, including Best Musical. I am so thankful for Celebrity Attractions bringing this Broadway Musical to life in our town. You don't want to be a second late to your seat. The Opening Act was "The Circle of Life" performance. These larger than life puppets come alive in this Act. It took real talent for those actors/actress' to walk on those stilts in costume. The Elephant was my favorite as it was coming up the stage to join the others. This Production brought current humor to the Musical. They mentioned "tweeting" and Target as "Tar-jay" among other dabs. The voices were amazing and brought real life to the characters. I don't know where our copy of the video is, so I think I will go on Ebay and find another one. This Musical is for all ages! We sat between a mother and her college daughter on one side, and parents with four kids under 12 on the other. It is well worth the ticket price and to special treat yourself or your family. We will most definitely be going back to this beautiful performance center again soon...maybe next time for a Concert! HAKUNA MATATA ( no worries for the rest of your days) --- Pat P.S. I found some links on You Tube for "The Circle of Life" Musical Version. Be sure and click on the link. It will make you want to find a ticket for sure! Yesterday was a Friday the 13th that will be hard to forget for some of us. One of our long time co-worker's passed. Although, he had been sick, it was a shock to us all! Just the day before our Owner said that David was sick, back in the hospital, and wasn't doing well. He and David were incredibly close friends for years. Early yesterday I decided to text David and ask how he was doing. Immediately his phone rang my phone. I smiled to see his picture display on my phone. I was ready to fuss at him for not taking care of himself like he was suppose to. My smiles became tears soon after. The call was coming from his wife, she was crying deeply as she told me that he had just passed. She said they were waiting for the Coroner to come. I felt so bad! I couldn't believe it... I was in shock. How awful I felt for her and their family. I couldn't hold my emotions. I told her that we all loved and prayed for them. As I reflect on the man, our co-worker, our friend, I know that he is not suffering any longer. This man dealt with terrible pain, both physically and emotionally. He was a Veteran and had suffered great pain dealing with PTSD. He shared stories of things that happened throughout his life. He struggled for years at the office dealing with emotional events that had happened in his life. He battled addictions in which he overcame and was involved in helping others battle theirs. When I first met David at the office....... he annoyed me deeply! He was arrogant, outspoken in ways that just absolutely made me furious! As years passed I got to know him. I listened to his stories and I became a sounding board to him. He also would listen to my stories and asked about my life as a friend. David always asked about the kids and Greg. He loved to see my posts about my dogs, cats, family, and NCIS! You could tell he truly cared about me as a person, a co-worker, and a friend! I attended David's wedding of the woman he found that loved him deeply. She loved his family and was the best thing that happened to him! David became a much better person who could handle his physical and emotional needs after they married. I was so happy for him. You could really tell that she loved all of him. All of us have baggage.......some more than others! I am so glad that I listened to the stories of his life and got to know him way beyond the arrogant man I thought that he only was! We need to take the time and get to know our co-worker's. We are with them as much as we are our own families. It is so important to include them in our thoughts and prayers. It is important to take the time to fellowship and build relationships with them. Although some discourage building relationships with co-worker's, I disagree. My closest friends have been past and present co-worker's and I am so very thankful for them all! David, as you look down upon us from Heaven, I know you are not suffering from breathing problems, nor are you suffering from diabetes, and most importantly you are not battling those emotional demons. I am thankful that I got to know you as a person and a friend. This song came to mind as I reflected on David. My friend, your broken heart was mended. You are living again! I can think of younger days when living for my life Was everything a man could want to do I could never see tomorrow, but I was never told about the sorrow And how can you mend a broken heart? How can you stop the rain from falling down? How can you stop the sun from shining? What makes the world go round? How can you mend this broken man? How can a loser ever win? Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again I can still feel the breeze that rustles through the trees And misty memories of days gone by We could never see tomorrow, no one said a word about the sorrow And how can you mend a broken heart? How can you stop the rain from falling down? How can you stop the sun from shining? What makes the world go round? How can you mend this broken man? How can a loser ever win? Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again! Songwriters: Barry Gibb / Robin Gibb How Can You Mend a Broken Heart lyrics © Warner/Chappell Music, Inc, Universal Music Publishing Group I love this Buble' and Barry Gibb version: We all know people that seem to be miserable at all times. "Negative Nancy's" can be difficult to get along with. The air becomes thick around them and you find yourself becoming more tense and just overall aggravated. They don't want to talk to you directly, so they wait until you leave the room and slip that passive Post-It note on your desk. I am certain that Post-It notes encourage the "Crabby Roads" of the World behavior. Maybe I'll just not order anymore and make people talk to one another! These same people are so stubborn that they won't even attend a free meal. They don't want to be caught socializing with each other because they might have a good time if they participated in the conversations around the table. Do you really think that some people want to be miserable? Who wants to be miserable? or is it they just want others to be as miserable as them? Doesn't being miserable require more energy? It appears there is always at least one in every office. Many conversations have been around the water coolers warning you that Crabby is in "one of their moods." People, life is too short to be miserable! Encourage one another not to be brought down by negative thoughts or surroundings. Don't give into the miserable behavior! Negative Nancy can meet Positive Patsy and maybe, just maybe, it will start rubbing off. Yep, I'm convinced, hide those freakin' Post-It Notes! Barbara Streisand sings one of my favorite songs that I think of often. Just take a look at my Post-It note: People people who need people Are the luckiest people in the world, We're children, needing other children And yet letting our grown-up pride Hide all the need inside, Acting more like children Than children. |
